What would you say to the version of you that hasn’t started yet, the version that’s scared to take the first step?
I asked myself this question recently as I was thinking about my business and when I was first getting started.
The first thing I’d tell that past version of Susan is that the most important element is creating a business is to feel the passion and love moving in a particular direction in that business. Of course there’s going to be fear. YAY! If there wasn’t any fear, it means you’re not doing it right.
When you feel fear, it’s because you are putting yourself out there, exposing it all to the world. And that’s exactly what it takes to win, to be successful. The world needs us all to speak out in our real desired and hopes in life because that’s what we’re supposed to do.
That is our own path to success as an artist.
This is so important and guarantees success because if you keep moving the same direction forward, your success becomes inevitable. What ‘success’ means may shift a little along the way, but your incentive and inspiration is there.
The love you have of your product or service will create confidence. When you keep going with your eyes open you will find your stride, your business, your market and your success.
There are going to be a lot of obstacles thrown at you along the way. You will stumble and doubt yourself. Life will try to knock you down and create obstacles. That is absolutely for certain.
This is exactly why people with an awesome idea and creative energy are so important. All large corporations know this fact and all companies need this seed of inspiration. Larger companies end up buying out smaller companies because that seed of inspiration embeds itself into the energy of that company. They rely on that energy to create excitement not only for their employees but also their customers.
The value of your excitement is the key to success. It is your job to maintain your value by continuing your passion and love for your idea.
You may find that joining a business community or getting a business coach helps not just maintain but deepen your value. They can help you see the things within yourself that you’re too close to notice. They can help you be your own cheerleader, staying positive and moving forward.
I’d absolutely tell myself, and anyone looking to start a business, that it takes a team. Building a team of course refers to assistants, social media managers, consultants. But it also includes that community, that business coach. It’s important to have someone pull you out of your shell so you can see the fullness of who you really are.
